History

Centre of Alumni Advancement and Relations (CARE)

The history of UTHM started in 1993 during the establishment of Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP). It was then upgraded to Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO), and Kolej Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO) in 2000. The establishment was eventually named Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in 2007. As of 31st of December 2016, the number of graduates recognized as UTHM Alumni is reaching 31,400 people and they are now working in various sectors, locally and abroad.

Seeing the vast development of the university, the administration had decided to form the Committee of Alumni Sponsorship on 13th of March 2003. The committee was managed by Students Affairs Office, and a few of the first generation UTHM alumni were appointed to be a part of the committee. The committee was responsible for conducting studies, arranging and planning the action plan to further strengthen and later establish a unit which is responsible for alumni-related activities as well as playing the role as the medium between alumni and the university.

Finally, Alumni Relations Unit (UHA) UTHM was formed on 16th of June 2006 as Responsibility Centre (PTj) under the patronage of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Students and Alumni Affairs to strengthen the management and administration of UTHM Alumni. The University Executive Board meeting No. 1/2008 which was held on 22nd of January 2008 has approved the change of name from UHA UTHM to Centre of Alumni Advancement and Relations (CARE).
